Dec 06, 2011 21:45 EST

A source has confirmed Japanese giant Marubeni Corporation's purchase of Yardarm Knot's Naknek, Alaska, cannery, as IntraFish first reported in October.

The 43-acre plant, which sits on north shore of the Naknek River in Bristol Bay, can produce 500,000 pounds of frozen salmon and roe herring and 10,000 cases of canned product per day. At its peak, which is from mid-April to the end of July, the facility employs 450 people.
